How did I even start collecting stuff with turtles? Honestly, I have no idea. They have been my comfort animal ever since I´ve been a kid. When I was 6, my mom even tried to bribe me with one - she promised to buy me turtle if I´ll start sleeping alone, in my own bed. I was terribly afraid of darkness, but I managed. It wasn´t until I was 18 when I realised that that´s why we´ve got a hamster. Mom found out that turtles are too expensive, while hamster was around 2 EUR at the time. Luckily for her, I wasn´t terribly bright and loved cute fluffy things.
Since I´m always very vocal about my fixations, I have been getting a lot turtle themed gifts. It´s sort of tradition for my grandma - for example, this keychain she crocheted for me. It´s so precious I can´t really wear it on any bag - I tried, but I´m worried I´ll lose it. Luckily, she made me smaller ones with macrame so I can at least wear them on my keys.
I go through phases with crafts and two years ago, I think, I went through working with beads. I made a lot of crabs, but also a few turtles. Admitedly they are a little bit wonky but I still like them.
